Why does no-one in Louisiana care about Storm Water?

Ξ August 7th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ North Dakota, Louisiana, Conferences |

I received a conference update e-mail this afternoon from StormCon and apparently no-one from South Dakota or Louisiana has registered yet. North Dakota doesn’t really worry me, as it is reasonably far from the ocean and even large lakes.

From the e-mail:

===REGISTRATION UPDATE===
As of this morning we have attendees registered from every continent and all 50 states except Louisiana and North Dakota (an extra t-shirt for anyone who can get someone from one of those states to register), Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, Canada, Colombia, Britain, The Netherlands, Algeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, and Australia.

I have lived in New Orleans before (during college) and I’m not terribly surprised that no-one is registered for StormCon.

However, I find it a bit troubling that the state that has suffered from the largest stormwater related disaster in history can’t seem to find anyone to go to the largest conference on Stormwater in the country.

    I attended StormCon 06. They didn’t have any of the new program tracks, but it was still a valuable networking opportunity and the vendor selection was fantastic. I had a little trouble finding applicable presentations for my area of work (surprising because I do a broad range of permitting work) but I think the Program Tracks have been designed to fix this.
